Following with our current trend, we’ve added another pizza chef to our kitchen…er…club. Our new Software Engineer, Divo has given us a little insight into her background!
Question: How did you end up getting into game development?
Divo: I’ve been drawn to video games since my very first experience. When I was 5 my mom got me a Donkey Kong Jr handheld Game and Watch, so I had something to do on a long international flight. It worked like a charm, because I did nothing but play that thing for hours. Pretty much sought out every chance at a video game thereafter. But it wasn’t until college, when I played Diablo, that it finally hit me that I could actually do this as a job. Switched my major from Chemistry to Programming and the rest is history.
Question: When did you start working on mobile games?
Divo:Now! I’ve only really worked in the PC gaming market thus far. I’m really looking forward to learning all about mobile development!
Question: What is your all-time favorite mobile game?
Divo: Oh boy that’s a toughy. I really run the gamut on mobile games from casual puzzle games to hard core gacha. So I’m going to break it down a bit more, if that’s okay.
Most money spent: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius.
Most raids: Marvel Strike Force.
Most items collected: Animal Crossing Pocket Camp.
Most walked: Pokemon Go.
Most matches: CandyCrushSaga.
Most cards collected: Puzzles and Dragons.
Ok, stopping there. Shockingly, this isn’t an exhaustive list!
Question: What is your all-time favorite video game (non-mobile)?
Divo: How do I distill 30 years of video game playing into one single choice?
My short answer usually is Paper Mario 1000 Year Door, but it shares that place with games such as Animal Crossing, EverQuest, Pokemon, Diablo, Super Mario World, Starcraft, FF8, Culdcept Saga, Skyrim, The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker and BotW, Professor Layton Games, Quake, Kirby’s Epic Yarn, so many more – ah I can’t choose between all my babies!
Question: What is the next thing you’re most looking forward to for Raid Boss?
Divo: Cat ears! Can I have my entire guild in cat ears yet?
Ah, yes. Enlightening to say the least. (And yes, I’m over the lunar base to have another FF8 fan in my sphere.) Have an excellent week pizzas, and see you again next Monday.
